Celebrating A Century of The American Musical! The Camas Performing Arts Series is excited to be collaborating with the Vancouver USA Singers on a special concert featuring hit Broadway show tunes. The 80 member vocal choir has been delighting Clark County audiences for some 40 years. Americans have a long standing love affair with the excitement, the comedy, the romance, the pathos, and the glitz and glamour of the musical theatre. The Vancouver USA Singers are pleased to present "A Century of The American Musical", a selection of popular show tunes from the hit Broadway Musicals of the last 100 years, featuring the enduring songs of such greats as George M. Cohan, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Leonard Bernstein, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim and many others. Presented in a musical landscape of ensembles, solos and choruses will be songs with the energy of West Side Story, the beauty of Carousel, the nobility of The Man Of La Mancha, the frivolity of Into The Woods, the comedy of Wicked, the whimsy of Brigadoon, the finger snapping of 42nd Street, the craziness of Tarzan and a whole treasury of other wonderful melodies of the American Musical Stage making for an evening of musical magic. As a special feature, the Vancouver USA Singers will be inviting a student choir member from Camas and Washougal High Schools to perform a solo during the concert.
