Jimmie Rodgers, 50’s & 60’s Icon and Former Camas Resident Partners with Camas Gallery to Host One-of-Kind Fundraising Event
• Book Signing Reception & Two One-Man-Shows Scheduled for late September
Camas, WA - On Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th Jimmie Rogers ( a worldwide recording star from the 50's and 60's and author) will be in Camas for three events. First, meet Jimmie Rodgers at the official book signing of his autobiographical work “Dancing On The Moon” at the Ballard and Call Gallery (408 NE 4th Avenue – Camas) from noon to four pm. This is a free event with books available to purchase, open to the general public.
On Sunday, September 25th join Ballard & Call Gallery… All Things Creative at Journey Church in downtown Camas (located at the corner of 4th and Birch Street) for two exclusive sets of Jimmie Rodger’s one-man-show. Show times are 3pm and 7pm, tickets available for $20 at the Ballard and Call Gallery. There will be a silent auction in the lobby of Journey Church comprised of three baskets containing his book, CD of his music and many special offerings from the Camas Merchants. The funds from the auction will be donated in Jimmie’s name to his favorite charity: Meals on Wheels.
Jimmie Rodgers was born and raised in Camas and graduating from Camas High School in 1951. His career eventually encompassed over 450 recorded songs, his own television shows and motion pictures. His autobiography, “Dancing On The Moon” is in the works of becoming a movie. His book details the savagery of the recording business, his tragic life threatening beating by a Los Angeles off-duty policemen to the tragic deaths of loved ones. About The Ballard and Call Gallery: Ballard and Call... All Things Creative is a brand new gallery open in downtown Camas featuring all Northwest artists in all mediums. Currently, there are eighteen artists in their showroom featuring everything from jewelry, pottery, mixed-media, original water colors, acrylics and oils with metal, woodwork and fiber art soon to be added. Marquita Call, also a life-long Camas resident was a successful business woman and has worked with many nonprofit causes over the years, including teaching 14 years of Sunday school.
