SUMMARY:November 2015 Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Guest speakers: Colonel Alaine Encabo & Art McCallum with the ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) \n\n\n\nPlease join the Camas Washougal Chamber of Commerce in welcoming our November Luncheon Guest Speakers Colonel Alaine Encabo and Art McCallum. They will be speaking to our Chamber membership about the ESGR program and how employers can support those employees who are members of the Guard and Reserve. \n\n\n\nAlmost half of our nation's military strength resides in the Guard and Reserve. These brave men and women perform critical roles and serve around the world. This would not be possible without the support from their employers. The link between members of the Guard and Reserve and their employers led to the creation of ESGR. ESGR is a Department of Defense agency that develops and promotes a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees. ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity\, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce. Established in 1972\, ESGR operates via a network of thousands of volunteers and support staff within all fifty U.S. states and territories.\n\n\n\nESGR provides the following services: \n\n\n\nADVOCATE: We advocate relevant initiatives on behalf of employers\, service members and their families. We promote the importance of employer support through regular communications to military leadership\, and serve as a communication link between employers and the Department of Defense.\n\n\n\nRECOGNIZE: We applaud employers who practice personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve. \n\n\n\nINFORM: We inform and educate service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). \n\n\n\nMEDIATE:Our trained ombudsmen provide information\, consultation and mediation concerning USERRA compliance. \n\n\n\nESGR volunteers\, from a variety of backgrounds\, enable ESGR to bring the message to all employers throughout America. ESGR committees conduct employer support programs\, including Bosslifts\, Briefings with the Boss\, mediation\, and recognition of employers whose policies support or encourage participation in the Guard and Reserve. Contact ESGR at www.esgr.mil or 1-800-336-4590. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 11:30am for networking\, with the program beginning at noon. The cost is $20/member or first time guest and $25 for non-member. Please RSVP by email at rachel@cwchamber.com or brent@cwchamber.com. Reservations can also be taken over the phone at 360-834-2472. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance.
