SUMMARY:JUNE 2009 CHAMBER LUNCHEON
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Camas-Washougal Chamber at the last luncheon event of the season on Thursday\, June 18th at Camas Meadows. Doors open at 11:30 for networking\, a 24 hours reservation is required to attend the event. The luncheon program will feature the Camas and Washougal High School Robotic Team "Team Mean Machine".  The robotics team is built on partnering students with mentors from local industries. The Team competes at US FIRST robotics competitions were competition strives to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes. Currently the CW robotics team is looking for local companies to support the team with mentors experienced in engineering\, marketing\, web design\, etc. and for financial support through sponsorships and donations.The Robotics team is scheduled to appear at the Camtown youth festival and Camas Days but is also looking for any opportunity to visit local companies and present what the team does to their employees. \n The CW Robotics team is just in their second year of competition. They placed 4th out of 54 teams in the semi-finals of the Oregon Regional Competition held in Portland\, Oregon. It was a great showing and  the team brought home the General Motors Industrial Design Award for the simplicity and reliability of their design as well as for incorporating organic materials in its construction.  In March the team also competed in Seattle against 63 other teams. Team Mean Machine earned a 3rd place finish out of 64 teams during the qualification rounds\, they lost in the semifinal round to the eventual winner.
